Emergency Billing Policy and Procedures for Hurricane Evacuees

Note: Providers should not submit claims using the recipient’s CCN as it appears on the recipient’s medical card but should submit claims under the recipient’s 13 digit ID number.  If the recipient does not have the 13 digit number, the provider, if enrolled in LA Medicaid can verify and get the ID from REVS (dial up-800-776-6323), MEVS (swipe), or eMevs (web access).

Claims should be submitted to Unisys if you are an enrolled LA Medicaid Provider. Do not send them to LA Department of Health & Hospitals. Please refer to the addresses provided in your Provider Enrollment packets for the specific address to send the type of claim being submitted.  However, the Department of Health & Hospitals does receive the out of state claims for providers who are not enrolled in LA Medicaid.

If you have any problems or questions call Provider Relations at 800-473-2783 or 225-924-5040.

Important Information Re: Termination of Exemption
for Out of State Emergency Providers

NOTE: Providers may not use the temporary 7-digit authorization codes initially provided to access recipient eligibility for billing claims for services. Providers must use the assigned 7-digit LA Medicaid provider number for billing purposes. Claims submitted with temporary codes will not be processed.
